Quick! How fast can you find an event?

Here’s a challenge: pick an upcoming event that you want to attend.  Then have a friend type events and Albuquerque into an internet search engine, scroll through the results and then filter through the selected websites to get to the details you need.

At the same time, open the Albuquerque city guide inside of APPCityLife, navigate to Play, select Events, and scroll through the listed options to find the one you need.  Oh, and for some events, buy your tickets and email the information to a friend without ever leaving the app.

Almost every time, you’ll find the information faster than your friend.

I’ve worked with a wide variety of people in Albuquerque to aggregate a fingertip events resource, because I know that mobile users are on the go and need to have information readily accessible with as little navigation, typing or searching as possible.

If you have a local event you want to list, use our free listings form.  Once you submit the event, it will automatically appear live in APPCityLife.  And our users are clamoring for more local, live music events, so spread the word and encourage musicians and clubs to list their events for free.  The more the merrier.

And if you have a resource for events that you’d like to see in the app, add a comment here and let us know.

About APPCityLife

APPCityLife connects people with cities through a complete end-to-end mobile and cloud platform where cities, developers, civic hackers, nonprofits, schools and enterprise can publish robust mobile apps with seamless Open Data integration. Our platform is powerful enough to support rapid prototyping for experienced coders and developers, but it is also easily accessible to those without any previous coding experience; we empower individuals to create solutions and build mobile apps which address challenges they see within their own community.

Lisa, I don’t have a device that uses apps, but I think your city apps is
awesome! What a blessing to be able to open the device in your pocket
and in seconds find everything you are looking for! Have you thought about
or does it apply to international applications?

When we were in Rome a few years ago we struggled with paper maps so
much of the time! It would have been so helpful to have your apps then.
(My sister in Glasgow has one of them thar phone/internet devices)

International tourist destinations would be awesome.

We will eventually move into the international market, but the focus of our growth for the next 18 months will be in mid-market cities in the U.S. We’re actually doing research right now to determine which cities will be launched next.

Eventually most phones will have smart capabilities – it’s just the nature of innovation. So while the market is still fairly limited at this point, we know that more and more users are added every month as old cell phones are replaced with smarter models. And when we’re finally able to add the Android platform, it will exponentially add new users.
